The application also includes free user-to-user voice calls, text chat, contact list integration and video calls to non-ooVoo users.
The mobile application is free and we’re told there are no fees associated with the mobile service at this time. ooVoo’s online video chat service, however, charges users who want more than two-way video chat, so we’d anticipate that these fees will carry over to mobile eventually.
Video (video) chat has become a much-hyped feature ever since Apple released FaceTime for iPhone 4. Several companies including Yahoo (Yahoo!), Fring (Fring) and Qik have been quick to release mobile applications that enable cross-platform mobile video chat that work over Wi-Fi or 3G. ooVoo believes its offering is the first to work over 4G and is superior to the rest in terms of quality, though without testing it ourselves, we can’t yet verify that claim.
ooVoo Mobile for iPhone and iPad is said to be in the works and is slated for an early 2011 release.
